White vinegar is very inexpensive and can be used in a multitude of ways. It is a mild acid, but it is strong enough to clean greasy messes and can also be used to kill mold and bacteria. Vinegar can be used to clean surfaces, floors, carpet stains, and laundry.

Baking soda is the next best product. It can be purchased in large boxes which are often more cost effective. Baking soda can be used for cooking, medicinally, and also can be used for deodorization and cleaning. Many people look past it, but there are dosing directions on the back of most boxes of baking soda as it is a great way to get rid of heartburn and acid indigestion.

Lemons not only help get rid of stains, but they also have a great scent that can add a clean effect to your home. Many people use lemons when cleaning with vinegar, as lemon juice can be added to vinegar to block out the harsh vinegar scent. You can also pour lemon juice down drains such as garbage disposals to get rid of odors. Lemons are also a natural bleaching agent and get help get rid of stains on counter tops and laundry.

These are a few ingredients that can be applied to many uses, but some consumers opt to buy “green” nontoxic household products. Many major name brand products have gone green, so it helps consumers to make the right choice when deciding how to take care of their home.

    The above mentioned ingredients, – vinegar, baking soda, and lemons are the best ingredients to clean so many things with. And most of us have these things in our own kitchens. It’s hard for some people to believe that anything not chemical based could do a good job but they work just fine.

    What about steam? The power of steam is amazing especially on floors I find.
