Does your car eat electrical energy even if its turned off?

Even when your car is “turned off” does not mean it’s totally off.

Batteries will lose their charge over time.

If you have electronic door locks, the receiver is on, waiting for your signal to unlock/lock the car.

If you have an alarm/security system, that drains the battery too. Even that fake flashing LED (to simulate a car security system) drains your battery.
Your car has a clock that requires batteries.

Some cars have their electrical system that is not locked down, so you can listen to the radio, or be using the cigarette lighter to charge your phone, gps, etc., without turning on the engine,

These are just the items that you cannot control. If these items listed were installed aftermarket (that is, is not part of the car as standard or optional eqt), then you may be hitting your batteries more than with dealer-installed eqt.

You may also have a short in your wiring that drains your batteries – might want to have it checked out.

You may also have you internal car lights (that typically turn on when you open a car door) set to always on, and not knowing that because you park in a well lit area.

Your battery may need replacing, as it can’t hold a charge anymore.
